For the first quarter of 2026, Valley View Manor HCC ranked as the largest nursing home in Redwood County, data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) shows.
The facility reported 50 available beds—10 more than the county average—during the same period. On average, the center housed 31 residents throughout the quarter.
CMS assigned Valley View Manor HCC an overall score of 1 out of 5, compared to the 3.2 average for Minnesota nursing homes.
Within the quarter, Wabasso Restorative Care Center was the second largest in Redwood County with 44 beds, followed by River Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center, LLC, with 43.
Valley View Manor HCC incurred $125,300 in fines and two penalties as of the first quarter of 2026.
The county recorded three for-profit nursing homes in total.
U.S. Census Bureau estimates show the nation’s older population is on the rise, while younger groups decline. Americans ages 65 and older increased by 13% between 2020 and 2024, whereas those under 18 decreased by 1.7%. The number of older adults in the United States climbed from 4.9 million in 1920 to beyond 61 million in 2024.
According to a 2021 study, close to 28 million older adults—or nearly half of that age group—may need long-term services and supports; more than one in three may ultimately require nursing home care.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
