2024-25 School Year: How many students were enrolled in Jackson County schools?

There were 1,353 students enrolled in Jackson County schools in the 2024-25 school year, 2.9% less than the previous year, according to reports from the Minnesota Department of Education.

In terms of gender distribution, the student body in Jackson County comprised 50.4% boys, with girls representing the remaining 49.6%.

Data also showed that white students made up 82.3% of the student body, the largest percentage in Jackson County schools, followed by Hispanic students with 8.9%, 4.3% multiracial students, 2.4% Black students, 1.3% Asian students, 0.5% Other Indigenous Peoples students and 0.4% American Indian students.

Riverside Elementary had the highest enrollment among Jackson County's six schools in the 2024-25 school year, welcoming 350 students.

With more than 870,000 students enrolled, Minnesota's public school system is the 10th-largest in the United States. As of 2025 the student-to-teacher ratio in the state’s public schools is 15 to 1, on par with the national average.
