Redwood Area School District secures first spot in student Math test participation in 2021-22 school year

Redwood Area School District ranked first in the Redwood County for test participation, with 562 students taking the Math portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Redwood Area School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year fell by 0.5% from the previous year.

Redwood Area School District's students achieved an average Math proficiency rate of 46% in 2021-22 school year.

Third grade students stood out with 28% of them exceeding standards in Math, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, 11th-grade students had the most room for improvement, with 37% not meeting the expected standards.

Redwood Area School District encompasses schools within Redwood County and has a main office in Redwood Falls.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
