MCA and MTAS: How many Westbrook-Walnut Grove School District students took their Math tests in 2021-22 school year?

Westbrook-Walnut Grove School District ranked third in the Cottonwood County for test participation, with 217 students taking the Math portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Westbrook-Walnut Grove School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year rose by 5.3% over the previous year.

Westbrook-Walnut Grove School District's students achieved an average Math proficiency rate of 43% in 2021-22 school year.

Fourth grade students stood out with 27% of them exceeding standards in Math, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, 11th-grade students had the most room for improvement, with 36% not meeting the expected standards.

Westbrook-Walnut Grove School District encompasses schools within Cottonwood County and has a main office in Westbrook.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
