How did Mountain Lake Public School District students do on 2021-22 MCA and MTAS Reading tests?

Mountain Lake Public School District ranked second in the Cottonwood County for test participation, with 268 students taking the Reading portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Mountain Lake Public School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year fell by 1.1% from the previous year.

Mountain Lake Public School District's students achieved an average Reading proficiency rate of 45% in 2021-22 school year.

Sixth grade students stood out with 20% of them exceeding standards in Reading, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, fourth grade students had the most room for improvement, with 46% not meeting the expected standards.

Mountain Lake Public School District encompasses schools within Cottonwood County and has a main office in Mountain Lake.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.
