Pipestone Area School District: MCA and MTAS Reading results for 2021-22 school year

Pipestone Area School District ranked first in the Pipestone County for test participation, with 561 students taking the Reading portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Pipestone Area School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year rose by 9.4% over the previous year.

Pipestone Area School District's students achieved an average Reading proficiency rate of 48% in 2021-22 school year.

10th-grade students stood out with 12% of them exceeding standards in Reading, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, sixth grade students had the most room for improvement, with 41% not meeting the expected standards.

Pipestone Area School District encompasses schools within Pipestone County and has a main office in Pipestone.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
