How many Canby Public School District students took their MCA and MTAS Reading tests in 2021-22 school year?

Canby Public School District ranked first in the Yellow Medicine County for test participation, with 304 students taking the Reading portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Canby Public School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year fell by 2.6% from the previous year.

Canby Public School District's students achieved an average Reading proficiency rate of 58% in 2021-22 school year.

Sixth grade students stood out with 25% of them exceeding standards in Reading, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, eighth grade students had the most room for improvement, with 38% not meeting the expected standards.

Canby Public School District encompasses schools within Yellow Medicine County and has a main office in Canby.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.
