MCA and MTAS: How many Dawson-Boyd Public School District students took their Reading tests in 2021-22 school year?

Dawson-Boyd Public School District ranked first in the Lac qui Parle County for test participation, with 285 students taking the Reading portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Dawson-Boyd Public School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year fell by 6.6% from the previous year.

Dawson-Boyd Public School District's students achieved an average Reading proficiency rate of 56% in 2021-22 school year.

10th-grade students stood out with 16% of them exceeding standards in Reading, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, 10th-grade students had the most room for improvement, with 29% not meeting the expected standards.

Dawson-Boyd Public School District encompasses schools within Lac qui Parle County and has a main office in Dawson.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
