Lakeview PSD issued the following announcement on Dec. 17.
It’s time for our final Laker Sunday Spotlight of 2022. Today we turn the spotlight onto Anne Schnobrich. Anne is a 8th-10th Grade Special Education Teacher. Her nomination came from Laker Nation (Staff, Students, Parents, Community Members,etc.). Here is what they said about Anne: “Anne is a new teacher at Lakeview but has fit into the mix perfectly! She goes above and beyond every single day for her students and coworkers. Anne has an amazing work ethic, incredible relationships with students, and undoubtedly impacts every student she encounters in a positive manner. By simply doing her best, she encourages me to get better every day as well.”
That was just a glimpse at how impactful Anne is at Lakeview! We asked Anne a few questions to get to know a little bit more about her. Here are Anne’s answers:
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself (where you grew up, your family, pets, education, etc.): “I live in Minneota with my four children; Ben (20), Sam (16), Brek (11), and Mia (10). We have 2 dogs - Lily (7) and Daisy (1). I grew up in Redwood Falls with my parents and 2 younger brothers. I attended Prinsburg (CMCS) during high school, but returned to Redwood Falls to graduate. I have a BA in Special Education from SMSU, and will be completing my final semester of my MA in Educational Leadership from Minnesota State - Moorhead this spring..”
2. Describe your job at Lakeview and what you like about it: “I currently teach Special Education for grades 8-10. I really enjoy the variety each day brings. I have some really awesome students who teach me every day. I love helping them find success in many different situations, and learning with them. Every day brings new challenges, growth, and laughter for my students and me.”
3.What are some hobbies and/or activities you enjoy doing outside of work?:“Outside of school, I can most often be found attending my kids' events. They are active in baseball, cross country, volleyball, basketball, robotics, and track. We enjoy the outdoors and love to explore (when it's warm). When I can, I enjoy running and try to complete a few races each year.”
4. What is something you cannot live without and why?: “The easy answer is coffee because... well, it's coffee. :)”
5. What is your proudest accomplishment?:“My proudest accomplishment will always be my children. I am incredibly proud of all of them and who they are growing up to be. I am also thankful to them for all they have motivated me to become.”
6. What did you want to be when you were growing up?:“Growing up I wanted to be a journalist. I have always loved to write, and always imagined myself writing for a newspaper or magazine. I also thought at some point I would write a book. After high school, I was awarded the National Enclave Scholarship that I used to obtain a degree in Radio/Television Broadcasting. I worked briefly in radio, where I quickly discovered it was not my calling.”
7. If you could go back in time, what year would you travel to? Why did you pick that year and what would you do?: “If I could go back in time, I would travel to somewhere in the early 90's. I would take my kids back with me, and introduce them to the best time to grow up (in my opinion). We would drive around town on gas we purchased with the change in our cup holder, skate at the roller rink, dub music from the radio onto a cassette tape, and hang out in the basement playing Super Nintendo.”
8. For the senior class, what advice would you give them? Either about their last year in school or as they prepare for life after Lakeview.: “My advice for the senior class would be "don't burn bridges". This was one of my dad's famous lines that drove me crazy... until I learned what a small world it really is. You will be amazed at how many connections you will have to future professors/coworkers/neighbors/parents that you never would have imagined as an adult. Situations and relationships you have now will often find you later in life in ways you least expect.”
