The winter months can get long for rural residents, so it's not surprising to find a story of a rural Adrian farmer who took up making violins and carving to fill his time.
Here's the caption from March 24, 1954, Globe:
Wintertime Task
Just five months to the day to complete the three-day carving of the Lord’s supper by Oscar Nash, a violin maker who farms near Adrian, believes it was worth it. The carving was the first attempt by the Wilmont township farmer. Previously he carved a statue of Nash’s dog, who had died.
