PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

Planning Commission/Board of Adjustment

June 28, 2022

The Martin County Planning Commission/Board of Adjustment will be conducting a public hearing on June 28, 2022 at 5:30 p.m.  The hearing will be held in the Martin County Commissioners Room, located on the first floor of the Courthouse, 201 Lake Avenue – Fairmont, MN.  The following items will be on the agenda:

Conditional Use Permit Request from Bruce Gemmill (applicant), within Section 34 of Galena Township. Mr. Gemmill is proposing to create a new gravel pit to mine gravel and sand in an “A” Agricultural District and continue to use existing gravel pits to mine gravel and sand in an “SL-1” Shoreland Special Protection District on the same parcel. The Martin County Zoning Ordinance requires a Conditional Use Permit for any mining operation in an “SL-1” Shoreland Special Protection District and in an “A” Agricultural District.

Variance Request from Dustyn & Leah Hartung within Section 7 of Silver Lake Township.   The Hartungs are proposing to build an addition onto an existing house encroaching closer than the minimum required setback from the ordinary highwater level on Wilmert Lake in an “SL-2” Shoreland Residential Recreational District. The Martin County Zoning Ordinance requires a minimum setback of 150 feet from the ordinary highwater level in an “SL-2” Shoreland Residential Recreational District. 

Any persons interested in this public hearing are urged to attend the Planning Commission/Board of Adjustment meeting.
