City Of Lakefield recently issued the following announcement.
Project Update #21
Week of May 2, 2022
The contractor continues to place sanitary sewer main on TH 86 going south from the Wastewater Treatment Facility. New sanitary sewer main is currently placed up to 7th Avenue North on TH86. Storm sewer installation has continued on TH 86 and now the riprap and flared end have been installed next to the river. Concrete crews decided to hold off on working this week due to the wet conditions, but have confirmed they will be on site Monday, May 9th, to begin sidewalk installation on Chicago Street. Drain tile installation has been completed on Summer Lane with the residence sump pump connections having been made. Concrete and grass restoration will follow as work progresses this summer. Overall, this week was set back a few days due to the rain last Friday and Saturday totaling over and inch of rain. The contractor has now indicated that he intends to work longer days and Saturdays until he can get back on schedule.
Week of May 9, 2022
The contractor will continue with sanitary sewer and storm sewer installation on TH86 with progress going south to Menage Avenue. The week of May 16th the contractor intends to begin water main installation on T86 between Menage Avenue and the Wastewater Treatment Facility. This will be a separate crew and can only happen if room allows as there will be multiple crews working within the few block section on TH86. Concrete crews will be in town to begin sidewalk installation as well as curb and gutter installation on other streets.
General Information
Garbage and Recycling bins are currently being relocated by the contractor for pick up in affected areas. If your bins have not been marked indicating your house number, please do so and try to maintain the number on your bins if possible as it is easy to mix up garbage bins. As a reminder, TH86 is currently closed for north and south traffic; however, TH86 crossings between Mill Road and Menage Avenue are open. There are several residences and businesses on TH86 and as a friendly reminder please remember to take the most direct route to avoid TH86 as there is much concern for safety during construction.
