City Of Lakefield issued the following announcement on Apr. 29.
Project Update #20
Week of April 25, 2022
The contractor has begun installing sanitary sewer main on TH86 starting on the north end of town next to the wastewater treatment plant. Since Monday, April 25th, the contractor has installed approximately 200 feet of 18” sanitary sewer main going south down TH86. Storm sewer installation has begun on the north end of TH86. Berg Street and Mill Road intersection utility work has been completed, as well as prepped with gravel base for traffic crossing. Summer Lane drain tile installation has begun, along with some concrete driveway removals. Chicago Street sidewalk prep is almost complete and now ready for the concrete contractor to begin. Temporary water service is currently installed on affected residences between Menage Avenue and the north end of TH86.
Week of May 2, 2022
The contractor’s main effort will be to install sanitary sewer main to the intersection of Funk Avenue and TH86, and if weather cooperates continue going south to the Menage Avenue and TH86 intersection. Multiple crews will be working in this area as storm sewer placement will continue along with the sanitary sewer installation in the same working area. Concrete crews have indicated that if the weather is good they could possibly begin sidewalk installation next week on Chicago Street.
General Information
Both the City and MNDOT want to remind residents to please be patient with the traffic control measures taken as this project has multiple phases. Currently TH86 is closed for north and south traffic; however, TH86 crossings between Mill Road and Menage Avenue are open. There are several residences and businesses on TH86. As a friendly reminder, please remember to take the most direct route to avoid TH86 as there is much concern for safety during construction.
