City Of Lakefield issued the following announcement.
Project Update #19.
IF YOU ARE A LANDLORD, PLEASE SHARE THIS NEWSLETTER WITH YOUR RENTERS/TENANTS.
Week of April 18, 2022
The contractor has currently set up traffic control and detour routes for TH86, as well as side streets that are to begin construction. Asphalt reclamation has begun for TH86, Funk Avenue, Menage Avenue, and Mill Road. This grinding of the asphalt will remain in place, be bladed, and compacted for local traffic use. Chicago Street sidewalk preparations have begun with the excavation of soil and placement of gravel base for the concrete sidewalk to be installed. Temporary water service lines have been run through side streets in preparation of the water main shut down on TH86. Currently all necessary testing of the temporary water main is in process.
Week of April 25, 2022
The contractor will begin excavating and installing sanitary sewer main, water main, as well as storm sewer beginning on the north end of town on TH86. It is anticipated that the water main between Menage Avenue and the north end of the project on TH86 will need to be shut down. At that time, any affected houses will/should be connected to the temporary water that has been installed. If your house does not have water pressure please inform the RPR Joel as he will help resolve any issues. When your house is connected to temporary water you may find your water to appear milky and smell chlorinated. If these issues are present run your water until the color and smell dissipate. With temperatures dropping below freezing at night it would be best for homeowners to check the temporary water service feeding their homes in the morning and if any freezing problems exist inform the RPR Joel to remedy the situation.
Mill Road and Berg Street intersection will be under construction with the installation of storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water main. Once completed it will be returned to gravel/asphalt millings for local traffic use. Chicago Avenue will begin having sidewalk installed in the prepared boulevard areas.
Summer Lane may possibly continue with construction as the small concrete cutouts will be removed to the curb and gutter where the contractor is to install drain tile behind the existing curb and gutter. If the contractor removes concrete driveway on this street he has been asked to build something of a gravel ramp in order to allow vehicles into driveways when construction is not taking place.
General Information
There have been numerous questions about grass and seeding throughout town. As a reminder, any disturbed areas will be seeded and required to achieve grass stabilization prior to this project ending. The grass seeding will take place at various times as this is a large project with numerous phases.
