City of Pipestone issued the following announcement on July 23.
Have you ever wondered what it is like to be a park ranger? Pipestone National Monument invites children ages 6 – 12 to register for the 2nd Annual Ranger for a Day Camp. This program will be held on Saturday, August 1, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Camp attendees will engage in a variety of outdoor, hands-on activities involving Dakota language and culture, plant and animal identification, archaeology, geology, and more. Each child will also create a personalized craft to bring home. The Great Plains Zoo will present an afternoon program introducing campers to some of their ambassador animals.
This program is limited to 10 participants and advance registration is required. To reserve your space(s), please call (507) 825-5464, ext. 214 or visit the Monument between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm to make your reservation in person. Campers will need to arrange their own transportation to and from Pipestone National Monument and will need to bring a sack lunch and water. In keeping with MN Department of Health guidance, Ranger Day Campers are encouraged to wear cloth face coverings.
