City of Madelia issued the following announcement on May 21.
Graduation schedule Friday, May 29th as of right now:
5:30PM graduate parade
6:00PM students back at school for individual graduate ceremonies. Immediate family only. This will be strictly enforced
9:30PM fireworks from the golf course
Parade will be police, fire, graduates and any school staff that want to participate. Parade will start and finish at the high school. We'll be moving along at a clip of 10-15 miles per hour because we only have a half hour and need to get them to the school on time. We don't want anyone missing their ceremony! The parade route is sketched out and attached. Again, can't hit all the streets and areas so we are snaking our way along the long streets in town. If you want to show your support please keep your distance from others but find a good spot along these streets.
The south side of Gilbert Avenue SW and the Baptist Church area by the golf course is going to be signed and reserved for our 2020 graduates and immediate family.
Parade participants will want to be down at the school in line no later than 5:15PM.
Graduates can make their way to the reserved area at their convenience but will want to try and be in place by 9:15PM
in case there is traffic congestion.
REMINDER TO ALL: GOLF COURSE WILL BE CLOSING AT 1:00PM, MAY 29th. ALL PEOPLE MUST STAY CLEAR OF THE COURSE TO MAINTAIN SAFE DISTANCE FROM THE LAUNCH SITE
There is a makeup date of Saturday, May 30th for the fireworks in the event of rain.
