The Lyon County Law Enforcement Center (LEC), located in Marshall, has been closed to the public in an effort to help flatten the curve of COVID-19.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office announced the closure in conjunction with other government agencies and public buildings that have also closed their doors during the outbreak.

Marshall Police and the Lyon County Sheriff's Office will continue to operate and the county jail will stay fully staffed, however, in-person visits to the LEC will not be allowed. Online visitation will be an option for the public to meet with inmates.

In a COVID-19 press release, Lyon County Sheriff Eric Wallen made it clear that the health and safety of officers and inmates and the public was the top priority when the decision was made to close the LEC.

“We will continue to monitor the ever-changing health crisis and re-open the law enforcement center to the public as soon as it is safe to do so,” Wallen said.

More information can be found by visiting Lyon County’s website, or by calling the Lyon County Jail at 507-929-6622.
