City of Bigelow issued the following announcement on March 27
Beginning Monday, March 30th, ISD 518 will be utilizing rural bus routes to deliver meals from ISD 518’s food service during the period of Distance Learning that is set to take place from March 30th through May 1st. This service will be available to all District 518 students 18 years old and younger who would normally be assigned to a rural bus route. This includes students in the communities of Bigelow, Brewster, Reading, Round Lake, Rushmore, and Wilmont.
Rural routes for delivering meals to district students who sign up will begin at 11:00 a.m. and run Monday through Friday. Meals will include a lunch for the current day and a breakfast for the following day.
This service will be provided in conjunction with Bud’s Bus Service, the bus company ISD 518 contracts with for its transportation needs. Drivers from Bud’s Bus Service will be calling students who are on their rural routes to identify who has the need for this food service program. Students may also be enrolled in the rural route deliver program by calling Bud’s Bus Service at (507) 372-5552.
District 518 is continuing to look for ways to further serve all students within the district. Through this program, students who are served by rural bus routes will have access to the food service program currently run by ISD 518. Throughout the time of the COVID-19 pandemic, ISD 518 has been and will continue to serve as a provider of critical services for our school community.
