CITY OF EDGERTON: Have You Joined The Public Alert System?

Alert

City of Edgerton issued the following announcement on Oct. 12.

The city of Edgerton is implementing an alert system whereby they can communicate messages to residents. These messages may sometimes be for emergencies, but more often just for information.

They have advertised and sent out mailings asking people to return a form with their name, address, and contact information. People need to fill out the form and return it to city hall if they want to receive a phone call, text message, or email when there is an emergency or public utilities item that they may want to know about.

An example of a message that the city may want to send out would be a snow emergency. In that situation, all the addresses in town would be notified, if the city has your contact information. Another example might be if the water had to be shut off in your neighborhood for repairs to water lines. Mary Kreun, the deputy city clerk, explained that in those situations, she can notify only those residents who will be affected.

You can choose whether you want to be notified by phone call, text message, or an email. To be included in the alert system, you must turn in your contact information. If a city employee happens to have your cell phone number or email address, you will not be added to the system unless you fill out the form. The city will not be giving out that information to anyone other than the city staff.
