Sixth-graders at Worthington Middle School achieved the highest participation rate in the mathematics section of the 2024-25 MCA, the Minnesota Department of Education reports.
Among the 660 students who took the mathematics test at Worthington Middle School, 205 were sixth-graders.
In total, 35% of sixth-grade students met mathematics proficiency standards as defined by the test.
The MCA and Alternate Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment (Alt MCA) are statewide assessments used to measure student outcomes relative to Minnesota’s academic standards as well as to fulfill federal and state Legislature mandates. These tests evaluate math, reading, and science, depending on the student’s grade level. Most participate in the MCA, while the Alt MCA is available for eligible students who receive special education services.
Statewide proficiency on the Minnesota MCA exams is lower than it was before the pandemic, according to results listed on Minnesota’s Report Card. For example, math proficiency has decreased by over 7% compared with 2019, while reading proficiency has declined by nearly 5%.
