According to the Minnesota Department of Education, Milroy Elementary School’s fourth-graders had full participation in the mathematics section of the 2024-25 MCA, leading among the school’s grade levels.

Two of the nine students who took the mathematics test at Milroy Elementary were in fourth grade.

The MCA and the Alternate Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment (Alt MCA) are statewide tests that monitor student achievement of Minnesota academic standards and fulfill both state and federal requirements. These exams include math, reading, and science, with specific grades assigned to each subject. The majority of students complete the MCA, while eligible students with special education needs may take the Alt MCA instead.

State data indicate proficiency rates on the MCA have decreased from pre-pandemic benchmarks, as reported on Minnesota’s Report Card. Statewide, math proficiency dropped by more than 7% from 2019, while reading proficiency declined nearly 5%.
